LUDLOW, Ky. – Joan “Joanie” Carol Hagedorn, age 66, of Ludlow, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at her home on May 16, 2025, under the compassionate care of St. Elizabeth Hospice after a valiant battle with cancer spanning eleven years.

Joanie was a proud 1976 graduate of Holy Cross High School and dedicated many years to Western Southern Life Insurance. She was actively involved in various community organizations, serving as a member of the Ludlow Fire Department Auxiliary, holding a leadership role in Ludlow Schools PTA for eight years, participating in the Red Hats group, and working with Concerned Citizens of Ludlow. Joanie found joy in singing, particularly as part of the Western Southern employee choir during the holiday season and at Red's games. She enjoyed browsing yard sales, immersing herself in literature, and showering affection on her beloved dog, Bree.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Wm. Terry Hagedorn of Ludlow, KY; her son, Danny Hagedorn (Nicole) of Liberty Township, OH; her grandchildren, Hudson Hagedorn and Penelope Hagedorn of Liberty Township, OH; her siblings, Mike Meyer (Enola) of Covington, KY, Dave Meyer (Marianne) of Erlanger, KY; Joyce Meyer of Ludlow, KY; Lori Sims of Ft. Wright, KY; stepsister, Kay Sheperd (Don) of Batavia, OH; along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.

Joanie was preceded in death by her parents, Dick Meyer and Jean Meyer Ryder; her sisters Jeanie Berlund and Teri Meyer; and stepsisters Pat Gregg, Ginny Korb, and Pam Figart.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM, all to take place at Sts. Boniface and James Church in Ludlow, KY. Joanie's wish was for attendees to wear her favorite color, purple, to honor her during the visitation and Mass.
