Born in San Francisco, Alida's journey led her to Santa Clara, California, where she grew up on a pear ranch. A graduate of San Jose State University in Dietetics, she went on to a Private Ward Dietitian internship at Harvard’s Peter Bent Brigham Hospital, where she met her English husband. Their love story blossomed quickly, leading them from England to Texas and then to Parkersburg, WV, where they raised four children.
Alida's retirement years in Trinidad, California, offered her and her husband the tranquil sounds of the Pacific Ocean and the warmth of a close-knit community. Kentucky became their final destination over 20 years ago, centered around their children and grandchildren.
Known for her love of music and handwritten notes, Alida's kind-hearted nature extended to all she encountered, whether family, friend, or stranger. She leaves a legacy of kindness and an unyielding gratitude for life's blessings. Alida was preceded in death by her husband Paul and son Alan. Survivors include her sister, Mary Ruth Schack, daughters Ruth, Anne, Adele, and grandchildren who held a special place in her heart.
Alida Morse Thistleton will be deeply missed, but her legacy of warmth and enduring kindness will continue to touch the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
