Welcome to the Digital Discovery series, a new initiative designed to highlight online resources each month. This March, the focus is on digital resources that provide stories and storytimes for children.

The Kansas City Public Library (KCPL) offers a variety of digital resources, ensuring that families always have access to stories. Different formats and reading methods are available for parents and children.

One resource is BookFlix, which features hundreds of picture books by pairing fiction with nonfiction titles. For example, readers can enjoy "Click Clack Moo" alongside information about dairy farms. Some stories include animations and options for on-screen text to facilitate reading along. Additional activities and information accompany each story, allowing children to explore topics further. Many titles are also available in Spanish. Access is available from home with a library card.

Another resource is TumbleBooks, offering animated talking picture books and read-alongs with chapter books. It includes puzzles, games, language learning tools, and quizzes accessible from home.

Hoopla and Libby provide ebooks and eaudiobooks without waiting periods for Hoopla titles. Apps are available for download on phones or through websites.

These platforms offer various picture books for families to explore together at home.
