On average, students scored 18.3 in reading during the 2023-24 school year, compared to 20.4 in the previous year.
Reading proficiency in the school dropped 14% compared to the previous school year, when 55% of students were considered ready for post-secondary education.
For comparison, 42% of students across Kentucky met or exceeded ACT benchmarks in reading during 2023-24 school year.
Beyond reading, 48% of students Ludlow High School met the English college readiness benchmarks in the 2023-24 school year. Additionally, 25% were considered college-ready in math.
Ludlow High School is the only school located in Ludlow Independent School District.
Despite escaping some of the pandemic's educational disruptions, Kentucky's achievement gaps have remained an issue since 2019. In the eighth-grade reading assessments, for example, Hispanic students scored eight points lower than their white peers, and the gap reached 15 points in math. Black students fared even worse, falling more than 20 points behind and facing a failure rate nearly double that of their white counterparts.
